Our Service Department

Located in a separate location in Englewood, Co. this facility has been our primary location since 1980. We specialize in rebuilding Steinways and other name brand pianos. Piano tuning is limited to the Denver area, specifically, South Denver and the southern suburbs. Piano tuning is done only by Marshall Luke, the owner and head technician for Luke Piano. Thirty eight years experience and a large clientele, make this a focal point for the company.
Piano rebuilding is meticulous and time consuming, when done properly, results can exceed original factory results. Costs can excede $10,000 for a rebuilding and refinishing a grand piano, therefore only quality name brand pianos are considered a good value for rebuilding or re manufacturing. In addition to flawless refinishing with a custom color, we install new pin blocks and action parts. We manufacture new sitka spruce soundboards with the only 60,000lb. pneumatic press in Colorado. All case hardware is re-plated if needed. We also refinish and carefully letter our cast iron piano plates. Some plates have 24karat gold leaf applied to make the embossed name to the original condition. Restringing and regulating complete the process, with the final result comparable to a brand new piano. This whole process takes about six weeks to complete. We generally have a six month back log.

New Soundboards
Only a few shops actually manufacture new soundboards, we employ the use of a 60,000lb press to attach the ribs and create the foundation for a new well crowned soundboard.

New Pinblocks
Pinblocks are the heart of the piano, a new well built pinblock will deliver accurate tuning for the next 80 years. We will routinely replace them because they insure a proper rebuild that is a warrantable process.

Custom Finishing

We offer superb finishing, dedicating ourselves to careful attention to details. All defects are repaired and a custom color stain and filler is applied to give the customer the color they specify. We use "Wurdack"brand lacquers, especially formulated for Steinway and Sons piano finishes. Our finishing process meets or exceeds the factory specifications. The end result is a piano that is new in every way, and will retain and grow in value over the life of the piano.

Credits
I credit my two boys, Elliot J. Luke and Dylan R. Luke for there initial push to get me started with the internet and a web site, I bought them a computer for this effort years ago, one was going to help me keep this site updated and one to help me build it in the beginning. Well a lot of time has passed and the "updater" is at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The kid who built this site in the first place is no longer a kid and he is on his way to Elon University in North Carolina. He is involved in so many things that time eludes him concerning this site. I love these guys, but I know that I have to take care of this site by myself...
